Just a block over from Main St. is Alta Restaurant & Wine Bar, an establishment offering an elevated dining experience and exceptional Mediterranean cuisine. For nearly 15 years, Alta has been serving the Lenox community, becoming a staple of the local food scene.

Alta is a lovely place to grab a bite. The exterior of the restaurant is inviting. On the inside, great service, warm lighting, and white tablecloths help create a romantic and cozy atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to go if you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion or have a nice date.

Both the lunch and dinner menus emphasize local ingredients, as well as organic ingredients, to create delicious, fresh dishes. Alta also offers an extensive wine list, which features many delicious wines from around the world, as well as classic cocktails and a full bar menu.

What to Get at Alta Restaurant: For an appetizer, you might enjoy the goat cheese mousse with beets, figs, and a savory shortbread. On A Roll Cafe offers an exciting menu that pulls from many different cuisines and culinary inspirations. You’ll find Mediterranean, Latin, French, and traditional New England dishes all make an appearance on this menu. Each one is approached with a fresh take and is made entirely from scratch with tasty, high-quality ingredients.

What to get at On a Roll Cafe: For a sweet start to the day, try the toasted coconut and pecan French toast or lemon ricotta pancakes. If the cozy and homey interior makes you feel like you have been whisked away to the countryside, the authentic food will have you convinced you’re really in Italy. It’s not an overly large menu, but it has all of the Italian staples that you might crave, and each dish is delightfully well-crafted.

What to get at Trattoria Il Vesuvio: For an appetizer, try the calamari tritti or arancini. The fra diavolo is a delicious entree that pairs mussels and clams with linguini, sure to be a hit with seafood lovers.

Chef Ethan Koebel creates a menu that focuses on fresh-caught New England seafood and nearby farmers’ produce. He takes inspiration from the ingredients that can be found locally and uses them to create a world-class menu that can’t be beaten.

Plant-based eaters and families should keep in mind that the menu is neither vegetarian- nor kid-friendly.

What to get at Cafe Boulud: The menu is a three-course prix fixe, it is a good idea to let seafood guide your choices. The heirloom tomato gazpacho with house-smoked bluefish or grilled Spanish octopus are both great starters. Follow up with the shrimp risotto, or the Crescent Farms duck breast if you don’t want seafood. The cheesecake mousse is an amazing end to an incredible meal.
